When my wife and I moved to Millbrook, we quickly realized that this community is much more than a collection of streets and houses. It is the people who stop to talk, support a local fundraiser, help a neighbour, volunteer their time and make an effort to welcome someone new.
Millbrook is also growing. There are people who have been part of this community for generations and others, like us, who are still learning its traditions, its stories and the people who make it special. I think there should be more opportunities for those parts of Millbrook to connect.
That is what I want Living in Millbrook to become: a useful, welcoming place created with the community, not simply a website that talks at it. Neighbours should be able to share a garage sale, a bake sale, a volunteer opportunity, a local initiative, a recreation idea or a story that deserves attention.
It should also make everyday life a little easier—whether someone is looking for a local service, trying to understand waste collection, finding somewhere to get outside or learning their way around after moving here.
I’m a Millbrook resident and a local realtor, but real estate is only one small part of the site. The larger purpose is to give everyone something useful to contribute and help people feel more connected to where they live.
This will grow gradually, and it will become better as more neighbours use it, share ideas and tell me what is missing. My hope is that Living in Millbrook feels like it belongs to the community—because that is who it is for.
